In early June, the German Parliament – Bundestag – handed important laws aimed toward advancing the prosecution of worldwide crimes. The act has been anticipated since February 2023, when the Federal Ministry for Justice printed a paper laying out key components of the reform and emphasizing Germany’s “pioneering function” within the prosecution of worldwide crimes (p. 1, 3).
